BERLIN (AP) — A sequence of fires hit railway infrastructure within the German metropolis of Hamburg in a single day, inflicting widespread disruption to trains between Hamburg and Berlin and between the port metropolis and the Baltic Coastline. Police stated they think that the injury was politically motivated.
Railway operator Deutsche Bahn stated that trains on the principle high-speed route between Hamburg and Berlin had been canceled due to vandalism. It stated it was working some trains on an alternate route that takes as much as an hour longer.
